Ag Department Seeks Listings for 2024 Farm Fresh Directory

Colorado agricultural producers are encouraged to submit their listings for the 2024 Farm Fresh Directory, published annually by the Colorado Department of Agriculture. This year will be the 40th anniversary of publication. The directory, which will be released in June, promotes Colorado farmers’ markets, roadside stands, u-picks, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) producers, agritourism activities, wineries, and farms and ranches that sell directly to the public. 

CDA Hiring for Two Regional Assistant Commissioners

The Colorado Department of Agriculture announced a search to fill two new regionally based Regional Assistant Commissioner of Agriculture positions that will serve as a liaison between the Department and agricultural communities across Colorado. The two new positions are in addition to the two positions filled in 2023 when these positions were created.

Todd Inglee Announced as Next Brand Commissioner

Commissioner of Agriculture Kate Greenberg and the State Board of Stock Inspection Commissioners (Brand Board) have announced that Todd Inglee will take on the role of Brand Commissioner for the Colorado Department of Agriculture’s Brand Inspection Division starting February 5, 2024.

Notice of Charges Filed Against Douglas County Canine Rescue

On December 21, 2023, the Pet Animal Care and Facilities Act (PACFA), a program administered by the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA), filed a Notice of Charges against Douglas County Canine Rescue (DCCR) with the Office of Administrative Courts to revoke DCCR’s pet animal facility license.

Governor Polis Announces Funding for Agrivoltaics Grants to Help Colorado’s Agriculture Industry Benefit from Solar Technology

On Dec. 19 at CSU-Spur, Governor Polis and Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) Commissioner Kate Greenberg awarded $500,000 in grants to seven projects that demonstrate the use and benefits of agrivoltaics, the simultaneous use of land for solar energy production and agriculture. These grants distributed by the Polis administration will provide funding to incorporate innovative technology that supports Colorado’s producers to operate in the face of challenges created by climate change and prepare the next generation.
