Nearly Half A Million Visitors Attended 150th Colorado State Fair in Pueblo

The Colorado State Fair celebrated its 150th year with 461,104 visitors who traveled to Pueblo to have fun, support the next generation of agriculture, and learn more about one of our state’s primary economic drivers: agriculture. 

While attendance overall exceeded that from 2021 by only one percent, Fiesta Day, celebrated Sunday, September 4, 2022, saw the largest single day of attendance in 13 years, with 69,562 visitors who walked through the gates.

The 150th Colorado State Fair Opens Today! 

Colorado’s heritage and agricultural roots will be on display at the 150th Colorado State Fair, which opens today, August 26, 2022, at 11 a.m. MT and continues through Labor Day, Monday, September 5, 2022, at the State Fairgrounds in Pueblo. The 2022 theme is “150 Years of Fun” and a record-setting number of attractions and entertainment offerings are planned for the 11-day event.

USDA Under Secretary Bonnie, Agriculture Commissioner Greenberg Discuss Agency Alignment on Climate Smart Ag Programs

Colorado Commissioner of Agriculture Kate Greenberg met today with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Under Secretary Robert Bonnie to discuss the alignment between the state and federal agencies on climate resilience and stewardship of natural and working lands. They were joined by Colorado Farm Service Agency (FSA) state director Kent Peppler and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) State Conservationist Clint Evans and others leading climate work for the federal government. 

What To Expect At The 150th Colorado State Fair

The 150th Colorado State Fair kicks off this Friday, when the Colorado State Fairgrounds in Pueblo will be bustling with hundreds of activities aimed at delighting fairgoers both young and old. This year’s State Fair runs through Labor Day, Monday, September 5, 2022 and will be a sesquicentennial celebration filled with special events and attractions, as well as returning beloved fair favorites.

Livestock owners looking for alfalfa, grass, mix, or other hay products can connect directly with hay producers in their region of Colorado by using the 2022 Colorado Hay Directory. The directory listings include the type and amount of hay available, bale type and size, whether or not laboratory analysis is available, certified weed free status, and identifies organic hay.

State Veterinarian Confirms Equine West Nile Virus Case in Weld County

A three year old gelding residing in Weld County has been diagnosed with West Nile Virus (WNV) and is now recovering. The horse developed neurological symptoms in late July, including weakness, stumbling and poor muscle control. The gelding’s vaccine status is unknown. This is Colorado’s first confirmed equine WNV case in 2022.

Pet Facility Licensing Program Launches New Continuing Education Courses

Colorado Department of Agriculture's Pet Animal Care Facilities Act (PACFA) Program is launching a new Continuing Education (CE) Program to help educate the licensed pet care community about the State’s regulations and increase compliance with the rules. PACFA is a licensing and inspection program dedicated to protecting the health and well-being of pet animals in facilities throughout Colorado.
