Inaugural Governor’s Plate Awarded at Colorado State Fair

Receiving the highest praise and the first-ever Governor’s Plate award, the Papa Mario’s Grilled Cheese Food Truck was crowned the winner at the Colorado State Fair’s inaugural Colorado-sourced food competition. The Governor’s Plate winner was the Panfili grilled cheese, prepared with ingredients from Colorado Proud producers, including Musso Farms and Springside Cheese. 

Commissioner Kate Greenberg's Statement on the Passing of Brian Allmer

Agriculture Commissioner Kate Greenberg issued the following statement in response to the news of the passing of Brian Allmer, the lead host of the Brian Allmer Radio Network and a dedicated agriculture journalist and radio host. 

"I am so deeply saddened to hear the news of Brian Allmer’s passing. It is a shock to so many and an immense loss for Colorado’s agricultural community.

Applications Open to Distribute $2M in Grant Funding to Ag Event Organizations throughout Colorado

The Colorado Department of Agriculture is opening the application period for agricultural events organizations impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 to apply for relief grants passed by the legislature in House Bill 21-1262. 

County fairs, and other ag events that sustained a loss in 2020 due to COVID-19, are eligible to apply. Applications are open now until September 10, 2021. A committee will be convened to determine eligibility of applicants. 

CDA Now Accepting Applications to Distribute $2M in State Stimulus Funding for Soil Health

The Colorado Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications to distribute Colorado Comeback stimulus funds to conservation districts and other eligible entities. 

The funding comes from Senate Bill 21-235, which appropriated $2 million to the Colorado Department of Agriculture to administer voluntary soil health programs. By statute, $1 million of those funds will go directly to conservation districts. Applications are open until September 15, 2021.

“Governor’s Plate” Event to Feature Colorado Sourced Ingredients

To highlight Colorado’s diverse and unbeatable agricultural products and chefs, Governor Jared Polis has announced the inaugural “Governor’s Plate” competition to debut at the 2021 Colorado State Fair. The competitors will partner with Colorado Proud to select Colorado-grown ingredients, including the Pueblo chile, to incorporate in their dishes.
