Colorado Invests $1.9M Into Drought Preparedness and Mitigation Across the State

To help Colorado’s agricultural industry mitigate the effects of the ongoing mega drought and improve the efficiency of agricultural water distribution systems, the Colorado Department of Agriculture awarded 21 competitive grants totaling more than $1.68 million to agricultural businesses, tribal organizations, water management entities, and watershed improvement projects across the state.

Randy Rogers Band and Eddie Montgomery of Montgomery Gentry Join Entertainment Lineup

The Colorado State Fair has announced two additional concert headliners: The PRCA Ram Rodeos will feature performances by the Randy Rogers Band and Eddie Montgomery of Montgomery Gentry. The 150th State Fair is scheduled from August 26 – September 5, 2022.

Colorado State Fair Generates $55.5M in Economic Impact in 2021

The Colorado State Fair Authority released a new economic impact report detailing specifics of the fair’s contributions to Pueblo’s economy. In 2021, the 11 days of the State Fair generated $43.7 million in total output which supported 506 total jobs and $14.9 million in total earnings in Pueblo County. In addition, non-fair activity in 2021 generated $11.8 million in total output which supported 106 total jobs and $4.3 million in total earnings in the County. 

Annual Colorado Hay Directory Now Accepting Listings 2022

The Colorado Department of Agriculture is accepting listings for the 2022 Colorado Hay Directory. The annual publication connects hay producers with buyers.

“The Hay Directory is a great way for livestock owners across the state and beyond to easily find the feed they need,” said Danielle Trotta, senior marketing specialist for the Colorado Department of Agriculture. “We know how busy our livestock producers are, and so by publishing our annual Hay Directory we can take some of the legwork out for them.” 

State Veterinarian Statement on Cañon City Wild Horse and Burro Facility disease outbreak

The Colorado State Veterinarian's Office was notified on April 23 about the disease outbreak that has resulted in the death of 85 horses at the Cañon City Wild Horse and Burro Facility. The Bureau of Land Management and the US Department of Agriculture are actively investigating the incident and monitoring the wellbeing of the animals at the facility. CDA is working with the two agencies to support their response to this incident.
