List Your Farmers Market, Roadside Stand, and More in CDA’s 2022 Farm Fresh Directory

Colorado agricultural producers are encouraged to list their business in a publication reaching more than 85,000 consumers across our state. The 2022 Colorado Farm Fresh directory, released annually in June by the Colorado Department of Agriculture, promotes Colorado farmers’ markets, roadside stands, u-picks, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) producers, agritourism activities, wineries, and farms and ranches that sell direct to the public.

Thanks to Colorado farmers, ranchers and producers, local-food options make it easier than ever to stick to this resolution, adding extra value to our lives well beyond the New Year timeframe. 

CDA Announces Department’s New Deputy Commissioner of Operations

Colorado Agriculture Commissioner Kate Greenberg has selected Hollis Glenn to serve as the Deputy Commissioner of Operations for the Colorado Department of Agriculture. Glenn is currently the Director of the Division of Inspection and Consumer Services (ICS). He will begin in the new position on February 1, 2022. 

CDA Launches Nationwide Search for New Deputy Commissioner of Agriculture

The Colorado Department of Agriculture has begun a nationwide candidate search to fill the position of Deputy Commissioner of Agriculture for Colorado. The Department is looking for an experienced leader to build on CDA’s mission of advancing Colorado’s agriculture and building relationships throughout our state’s agricultural communities. The new Deputy will replace Steve Silverman, who is moving on from CDA in February to teach at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. 

Conservation Excellence Award Winners Recognized for Work on East Troublesome Fire Recovery and Soil Health Initiatives

Commissioner of Agriculture Kate Greenberg is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2021 Award for Conservation Excellence, which recognizes individuals in Conservation Districts who have demonstrated excellence and leadership for Colorado’s conservation community. This year’s honorees are Katlin Miller from the Middle Park Conservation District and Patrick O’Neill from the Mosca-Hooper Conservation District.

$700K in Specialty Crop Block Grants available for Colorado Producers Open

The annual application period is now open for the Specialty Crops Block Grant Program (SCBGP), funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and administered by the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA). CDA is accepting applications for the grant program in the form of a concept proposal through February 7, 2022.
