On December 21, 2023, the Pet Animal Care and Facilities Act (PACFA), a program administered by the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA), filed a Notice of Charges against Douglas County Canine Rescue (DCCR) with the Office of Administrative Courts to revoke DCCR’s pet animal facility license.
DCCR has been charged with nine total counts in the case, including, in part, failing to provide timely veterinary care to the dogs in their care, failing to maintain records, falsifying records, and operating without proper licensure.
The Pet Animal Care Program is seeking the revocation of DCCR’s license. Pet facilities are required to comply with the Pet Animal Care and Facilities Act, including its adopted regulations. It is against the law for pet facilities to fail to appropriately care for the animals in their systems and to fail to follow the regulations and requirements of the PACFA program.
The Pet Animal Care and Facilities Act (PACFA) Program is a licensing and inspection program dedicated to protecting the health and well-being of pet animals in facilities throughout Colorado.
