The Colorado Department of Agriculture and Colorado State University's AgNext invite ranchers, dairymen, livestock producers, and agricultural groups to Methane Day, a workshop to discuss opportunities and barriers of reducing methane emissions. Methane Day’s goal is to bring together agricultural voices, learn about current technologies, and discuss hurdles to methane reduction.

“CDA looks forward to hosting Colorado's producers and researchers for a discussion on viable pathways for voluntary methane emissions reductions in livestock production,” said Evanne Caviness, Director of CDA’s Conservation Services Division. “Livestock producers are some of the most knowledgeable and passionate land stewards in our state. We look forward to hearing directly from our beef and dairy industries on how together, we can be impactful partners towards climate solutions.”

Methane Day will take place on June 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Attendance at the Methane Day is free. Using the event registration page, producers can also register only for the free Methane Day.

The event will feature multiple expert presentations about current research and methane mitigation strategies, a panel centered on producer perspectives, a tour of the Climate-Smart Research facility, and more. AgNext is at the cutting edge of current research about methane emissions reduction in animal agriculture through feed management, genetic selection, and studying the rumen microbiome.

Methane Day is a free part of the AgNext Research Summit, happening June 10-13 in Ft. Collins. General registration for the entire AgNext Research Summit costs $300 before June 1 or $350 the day of the event. Producers may be eligible for registration reimbursement through the Rancher Resilience Grant from the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.
