Hemp Pilot Program Extension Benefits Colorado Industrial Hemp Producers

Broomfield, Colo. - The recent passage of a Continuing Resolution to fund the federal government through December 11th contained a provision to extend the industrial hemp pilot program authorized in the 2014 Farm Bill. As a result, the Colorado Department of Agriculture's Industrial Hemp Program, and the state’s industrial hemp producers, will continue operations under current rules until September 30, 2021.

Fruit Growers in Three Colorado Counties Granted Pest-free Status by Arizona

Broomfield, Colo. - The Colorado Western Slope counties of Montrose, Delta and Mesa have been given Pest-free status by the Arizona Department of Agriculture, allowing fruit growers to ship commercially grown deciduous fruit to the state without a cold-storage quarantine requirement that has been in place for a number of years.

2020 Colorado State Fair Closes a Successful, Unprecedented Season

The Colorado State Fair has concluded a successfully reimagined 2020 season, thanks to the dedication and cooperation of thousands of on-site and virtual participants, volunteers, staff, local and state public health agencies, sponsors and community supporters.

Colorado’s State Fair was one of only 15 State Fairs nationwide that took place in some form this year. Despite the unprecedented current health crisis, the spirit of the State Fair was kept alive this season, in large part because of innovative collaboration and the formation of new partnerships.

Colorado’s Electric Cooperatives Junior Livestock Sale Raises Thousands for Colorado’s Youth

The 2020 Grand Champion Market Beef was sold for $50,000 at today’s 2020 Colorado’s Electric Cooperatives Junior Livestock Sale at the Colorado State Fair.

The steer was raised by Ema Richardson of Yuma, Colorado and purchased by Sam Brown and Family.

More than $298,200 was raised in the auction of 98 animals raised and shown by young people from across Colorado. All youth exhibitors who participated were required to keep a detailed record book of their animal project while learning responsibility, leadership, showmanship, and best animal care practices.
