Colorado Agriculture Commissioner Kate Greenberg issued the following statement about the passing of Miguel Baca Barragan, a Colorado State Fair Commissioner and long time champion for Colorado’s agricultural sector.

“I’m shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the news of Miguel Baca Barragan’s passing. As a Colorado State Fair Commissioner, Miguel was a champion of ensuring that Coloradans were familiar with our state’s agricultural heritage and traditions. Miguel was passionate about preserving the history and culture of the Colorado State Fair, including protecting the Hispanic heritage roots of the event and serving on the Fiesta Day committee.

My deepest condolences go out to Miguel’s family, including former State Senator Polly Baca, whose commitment to Colorado, our state’s agriculture, and the State Fair, are unrivaled. Miguel’s dedication to his community was a trait he inherited from his family. We will remember the time he served the people of Colorado with gratitude and he will be greatly missed by many across our state.”
