Pesticide Sensitive Registry (PSR)
The purpose of the Pesticide-Sensitive Registry (PSR) is to provide a notification system that requires licensed commercial applicators, registered limited commercial applicators, and registered public applicators to provide pesticide-sensitive persons notice of upcoming turf, ornamental, and specific structural pesticide applications.
In July 2024, the PSR moved to an online, searchable database. Access to the PSR is provided to the correspondence contact on file for each licensed commercial, registered limited commercial, and registered public applicators. Due to the sensitive information contained within the PSR, it is not available to the public.
Please contact the commercial applicator licensing program at (303) 869-9066 or pesticidesensitive@state.co.us to obtain additional information about the PSR.
Notification Requirements
Licensed commercial, registered limited commercial, and registered public applicators are required to attempt to notify at least 24 hours before any:
- turf or ornamental pesticide applications are made to any property abutting or entirely located within 250 feet of a registrant’s principal residential address
- wood-destroying, residential/commercial, or interior plant pest control pesticide application made to multi-unit dwelling where a registered pesticide sensitive person resides
- turf or ornamental pesticide applications are made to a registrant’s listed employment address, school address, or both.
Notification must include the date, approximate time, and location or address of the pesticide application.
CDA and the Office of Information Technology (OIT) uses Geographic Information System (GIS) software to determine the properties that are entirely located within 250 feet of a registrant’s residential address.
Notification may be by mail, phone, in person, or electronically.
Unless making notifications electronically, the applicator must make no less than two attempts to notify a registered pesticide-sensitive person. If the two attempts fail, the applicator shall attempt to notify the pesticide-sensitive person immediately prior to the application by placing notice on the door of the pesticide-sensitive person’s principal place of residence.
If making notifications electronically, only one attempt is required. Any changes to the date, time, or location must be communicated in a new electronic notification no later than 24 hours prior to the application. Applicators must maintain records of electronic notification.
Please note: Leaving a voicemail is an attempt, not a notice of application.
