USDA Under Secretary Bonnie, Agriculture Commissioner Greenberg Discuss Agency Alignment on Climate Smart Ag Programs

Colorado Commissioner of Agriculture Kate Greenberg met today with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Under Secretary Robert Bonnie to discuss the alignment between the state and federal agencies on climate resilience and stewardship of natural and working lands. They were joined by Colorado Farm Service Agency (FSA) state director Kent Peppler and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) State Conservationist Clint Evans and others leading climate work for the federal government. 

USDA Confirms Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in Wild Geese in Sedgwick County, Colorado

The Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA), in conjunction with United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) and Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), has confirmed the presence of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) virus in wild Snow and Ross's geese in Sedgwick County, Colorado.  These birds were collected by Colorado Parks and Wildlife on March 17, 2022 after finding several sick and dead geese at Jumbo Reservoir.  The birds were necropsied at the CPW Wildlife Health Laboratory and samples were submitted to the Colorad

USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack Announces $3B Investment into Agriculture, Partnership Initiative for Climate Smart Agricultural, Forestry Practices

Colorado Agriculture Commissioner Kate Greenberg issued the following statement after a visit from U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to Colorado. During the visit, the Secretary announced a $3 billion investment into agriculture, animal disease prevention, and nutrition, and announced a new partnership initiative for climate smart agricultural and forestry programs.
