CDA, State Fair Board Select New General Manager to Lead the Colorado State Fair

After a competitive national search, the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) and the Colorado State Fair Board of Authority are pleased to announce that Andrea Wiesenmeyer was selected as the new Colorado State Fair General Manager. Wiesenmeyer was chosen unanimously by the interview committee, which included members of the State Fair Board Governance Committee, representatives of the State Fair Foundation and Fiesta Day Committee, Commissioner of Agriculture Kate Greenberg and other senior level department staff. 

Joe Stafford Joins CDA as Inaugural Division of Animal Welfare Director

The Colorado Department of Agriculture welcomes Joe Stafford as its first director of the new Division of Animal Welfare. Bringing with him more than 23 years dedicated to animal welfare, Stafford will manage the operations of the newly formed division that houses both of CDA’s animal welfare programs: the Bureau of Animal Protection (BAP) and the Pet Animal Care and Facilities Act (PACFA) Program.

State Fair Seeks Dynamic, Innovative Leader for General Manager Role

The Department of Agriculture is seeking a talented and imaginative leader to take the reins of the Colorado State Fair, a well respected cultural and agricultural event older than the department itself. The fair’s General Manager provides the strategic direction and operational oversight of the Fair Division, the planning and execution of the 11-day State Fair Exhibition, as well as fairground management and master plan development.

Search Is On for CDA’s First-Ever Division of Animal Welfare Director

To advance the administration of animal welfare programs and provide additional capacity for the Animal Health Division, the Colorado legislature passed a bill establishing the Division of Animal Welfare at the Colorado Department of Agriculture (HB24-1458). The Colorado Department of Agriculture is now seeking a qualified candidate for this first-ever position of Division of Animal Welfare Director.

Two New Regional Assistant Commissioners to Join CDA

The Colorado Department of Agriculture has hired two new Regional Assistant Commissioners to help strengthen the agency’s connection to agricultural communities across the state. These positions were created last year and serve as a key resource to continue building and maintaining trusted relationships with rural communities and ag producers across the state.
