Colorado State Fair

After a competitive national search, the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) and the Colorado State Fair Board of Authority are pleased to announce that Andrea Wiesenmeyer was selected as the new Colorado State Fair General Manager. Wiesenmeyer was chosen unanimously by the interview committee, which included members of the State Fair Board Governance Committee, representatives of the State Fair Foundation and Fiesta Day Committee, Commissioner of Agriculture Kate Greenberg and other senior level department staff. 

The 2024 Colorado’s Electric Cooperatives Junior Livestock Sale held yesterday at the Colorado State Fair brought in more than $476,000 in the auction of 105 animals raised and shown by young people from across the state.

Proto Taste won the coveted Golden Plate, selected by Governor Polis as the winner of the Governor’s Plate competition at the Colorado State Fair. Meanwhile, the voters selected Stoke Pizza to receive the 2024 People’s Choice Award.

The trucks competed with five other food trucks from Pueblo, Wheat Ridge, Arvada, and Denver to win the awards. The rules were simple: each dish had to include either Palisade peaches or San Luis Valley potatoes, as interpreted by the competing chefs. Submissions this year ranged from pizza to sliders to ice cream.

Today, Governor Polis, the Colorado Department of Agriculture and the Colorado State Fair announced the seven food trucks from across Colorado that have been selected to compete in the 2024 Governor’s Plate competition at the Colorado State Fair.  The event takes place at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the State Fairgrounds in Pueblo.

The Department of Agriculture is seeking a talented and imaginative leader to take the reins of the Colorado State Fair, a well respected cultural and agricultural event older than the department itself. The fair’s General Manager provides the strategic direction and operational oversight of the Fair Division, the planning and execution of the 11-day State Fair Exhibition, as well as fairground management and master plan development.

Along with exciting concerts, livestock competitions, rodeos, and annual State Fair fun, the 152nd Colorado State Fair is calling all Colorado artisans, photographers, winemakers, inventors, gardeners, and many others to enter its General Entry, Fine Arts and Special contests.

World-famous Goo Goo Dolls will join the lineup of musical acts performing at the 152nd Colorado State Fair. The show, presented by the Colorado Lottery, is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1, at the Southwest Motors Events Center. 

"The Colorado Lottery concert is always a crowd favorite, and this year is no exception," said Scott Stoller, general manager of the Colorado State Fair. "The Goo Goo Dolls concert is a fantastic way to wrap up summer and the State Fair — and we can’t wait for you to join us."

The 2024 Colorado State Fair concerts feature a star-studded lineup that includes An Evening of Icons with the Commodores and The Spinners, Ludacris, Trace Adkins with special guest Cody Cozz, Shane Smith & The Saints, Scotty McCreery, Lonestar and Banda el Recodo, just to name a few.

Tickets for all concerts will go on sale Friday, June 7 at 10 a.m. on the Colorado State Fair ticket website.  

Program honors individuals, families, and businesses that have sustained Colorado’s agricultural industry

The 2023 Colorado’s Electric Cooperatives Junior Livestock Sale held today at the Colorado State Fair raised more than $470,350 in the auction of 108 animals raised and shown by young people from across Colorado. The 2023 Grand Champion Market Beef, raised by Hadli Gabel of Weld County, was sold for $50,000 at today’s event and was purchased by the Sam Brown family.
