*Please note, the VS Form 7001 is NOT accepted as a CVI for interstate travel to Colorado.
Birds
- Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued by an accredited veterinarian within 30 days prior to entry.
- Birds imported into PACFA-licensed facilities are required to have a CVI within 10 days prior to entry.
- All Psittacine birds to be sold or transferred to a new owner shall be banded with an approved bird band prior to entry.

- All game birds such as pheasant, chukar, etc, must meet poultry requirements.
Cats and Dogs
- Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued by an accredited veterinarian within 30 days.
- Cats or dogs imported into PACFA-licensed facilities are required to have a CVI within 10 days prior to entry.
- Rabies vaccination: Cats and dogs over 3 months of age must have proof of an up-to-date rabies vaccination.
- The vaccination date, vaccine manufacturer, and serial number must be listed on the CVI.
NOTE: For Colorado-origin cats and dogs traveling to states that do not require a CVI and returning to Colorado:
- If return to Colorado is within 30 days from departure, no CVI is required for return.
- If return to Colorado is greater than 30 days from departure, then the above import requirements must be met.
Ferrets
- Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued by an accredited veterinarian within 30 days prior to entry.
- Ferrets imported into PACFA-licensed facilities are required to have a CVI within 10 days prior to entry.
- Rabies vaccination: Ferrets over 3 months of age must have proof of an up-to-date rabies vaccination
- The vaccination date, vaccine manufacturer, and serial number must be listed on the CVI.
Rabbits
- Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued by an accredited veterinarian within 30 days prior to entry.
- Rabbits imported into PACFA-licensed facilities are required to have a CVI within 10 days prior to entry.
Other Small Animals
NOTE: This includes other pocket pets, such as gerbils, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, amphibians, and reptiles. This does not include exotic animals, which must meet the exotic animal entry requirements.
- Approval from Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) may be required prior to entry depending on the species. Please call CPW at (303) 297-1192 for requirements.
- Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued by a licensed veterinarian within 30 days prior to entry.
- Other small animals imported into PACFA-licensed facilities are required to have a CVI within 10 days prior to entry.
