The Colorado Department of Agriculture’s Conservation Services Division is hosting “Growing Urban Ag in Colorado,” an event designed to provide space to build connections while learning about available resources, commenting on future urban agriculture programming, and exploring our expo hall.
The event will take place on Thursday, May 1, from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm, at the CSU Spur campus, which brings together diverse research, demonstration and education programs to promote lifelong agricultural literacy and foster agribusiness entrepreneurship.
“Urban agriculture plays a crucial role in building resilient and equitable food systems,” said Colorado Commissioner of Agriculture Kate Greenberg. “By keeping people connected with agriculture and understanding where their food comes from, urban gardens and farms foster community connections, enrich our cities, and can provide real economic opportunity for innovative business people.”
Urban agriculture can increase access to fresh produce in underserved areas, provides educational opportunities, and promotes sustainable food systems. This event will provide urban producers the opportunity to make connections with support organizations, agency partners, and one another. The event will also include information about available resources, opportunities to comment on future urban agriculture-specific programming at CDA, and chances to connect with CDA’s partners, featured in the expo hall.
Urban growers, community garden leaders, urban agriculture advocates, and food systems enthusiasts throughout Colorado are encouraged to attend.
Please register online to attend the Growing Urban Ag in Colorado event no later than April 24 to save your spot. Lunch will be served for all attendees. There is no cost to register, but a suggested donation of $15 will help offset the cost of lunches and event space rental.
