(Bothriochloa ischaemum)
- 3 - 5’ tall
- Larger than Caucasian bluestem
- Blooms June to July
- Leaf-blades are basal, glaucous, flat, 1 - 10” long with scattered hairs
- Stems slender, solid, green turning yellow when mature with brown to purple nodes
- The inflorescence is silvery, reddish-purple with 2 - 10 racemes
- Seeds are brown
