- Blooms late summer; flowers 1" wide
- Leaves basal, sword-like & up to 3' tall by 1/2" wide
- Thick, creeping rhizomes
- Stems triangular, not round
- Fruits brown, 1/2" long
- Tolerant to a wide temperature range
