Kristen Boysen, ADCRO Managing Director
As the Managing Director of CDA’s Ag Drought and Climate Office, Kristen supports the resilience and stewardship of Colorado farmers and ranchers. She supports the Colorado Soil Health Program, CDA’s Energy Program, and works with other state and federal agencies, stakeholders, and producers to develop climate plans and programs.
In her prior work, Kristen worked with farmers and ranchers in Colorado, Nevada, and California to conserve farm and rangelands and develop alternative funding streams for producers through ecosystem markets and conservation strategies. She also has worked for a land trust, conserving rangeland in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Kristen has a Masters in Environmental Science and Management from University of California, Santa Barbara, and BA in Biology from Pomona College.
Sam Anderson, ACRE3 Program Manager
Sam, CEM, is the Energy Specialist and Program Manager for the ACRE3 energy grants program at the Colorado Department of Agriculture. Sam began working as an energy engineer in 1999, conducting extensive research and analysis and shaping policy on a wide array of renewable energy, biofuels, and energy efficiency technologies. He worked as a project engineer and consultant between 2004 and 2014, designing and installing numerous energy and biofuels projects with a strong focus on agricultural applications. Sam started administering ACRE3 program services in 2014, where he guides program strategies, provides technical assistance, and administers grants for on-farm energy projects across Colorado, ranging from energy-recovery hydropower in irrigation systems to horticultural LED retrofit projects in greenhouses and agrisolar projects that integrate solar photovoltaics with crop or livestock production. Other project engineering experience includes wind energy, solar thermal, geo-exchange, energy storage, energy efficiency, and various bio-energy technologies, including the agronomics and processing of various oilseed crops in Colorado and the design, construction, and operation of biodiesel production facilities.
Sam obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in 1998. He has been registered as a Certified Energy Manager® (CEM #22458) since 2014 and the Building Performance Institute certifies him as a Building Analyst Professional.
Rosie Skovron, ADCRO Program Assistant
Rosie joins the Drought and Climate Resilience team after three years of food systems work in Boulder County. She managed the weekly Longmont and Boulder markets for Boulder County Farmers Markets and worked on two small-scale veggie farms in Boulder County. She loves bringing organization and maximized efficiency to teams and is excited to be working with farmers and ranchers across CDA's soil health, energy, and statewide climate programs.
Before moving to Colorado, Rosie worked for environmental non-profits in Alaska and Washington. Rosie has a Bachelors in Anthropology and Environmental Studies from Wesleyan University.
