Conservation Excellence Award Winners Recognized for Work on East Troublesome Fire Recovery and Soil Health Initiatives

Commissioner of Agriculture Kate Greenberg is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2021 Award for Conservation Excellence, which recognizes individuals in Conservation Districts who have demonstrated excellence and leadership for Colorado’s conservation community. This year’s honorees are Katlin Miller from the Middle Park Conservation District and Patrick O’Neill from the Mosca-Hooper Conservation District.

Applications Open for Soil Health Advisory Committee

The Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) is seeking applications for volunteers to serve on its Soil Health Program Advisory Committee to advise the Department and the Commissioner on matters regarding the newly formed Soil Health Program (HB 21-1181).

CDA Now Accepting Applications to Distribute $2M in State Stimulus Funding for Soil Health

The Colorado Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications to distribute Colorado Comeback stimulus funds to conservation districts and other eligible entities. 

The funding comes from Senate Bill 21-235, which appropriated $2 million to the Colorado Department of Agriculture to administer voluntary soil health programs. By statute, $1 million of those funds will go directly to conservation districts. Applications are open until September 15, 2021.
