Rodeo Cattle from Mexico

Rodeo Cattle - Mexico Origin

  1. Only Steers and Spayed Heifers may be imported into Colorado.
  2. Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued by an accredited veterinarian within 30 days prior to entry into Colorado.
  3. Permit required prior to entry by calling (303) 869-9130.
  4. Two Negative Tuberculosis Tests required before all rodeo cattle enter rodeo channels. One test required before rodeo cattle enter the United States and the second test 60-120 days after entry into Colorado. TB Test records shall be with any owner, manager, agent or anyone in possession of rodeo cattle at all times with all official ID numbers listed and matching the rodeo cattle in possession.
  5. Negative Tuberculosis Test required for all rodeo cattle on an annual basis after entry into the United States. TB Test records shall be with any owner, manager, agent or anyone in possession of rodeo cattle at all times with all official ID numbers listed and matching the rodeo cattle in possession.
  6. Official Mexico ID ear-tag must be retained after entry into the United States.
  7. Permanent brand with an M or MX high on the right hip. The brand may be either a freeze brand or a hot brand.
  8. Official ID must be individually listed on the CVI for all rodeo cattle of any age.

Breeding animals originating from Mexico are prohibited from entry into Colorado.The only exceptionsaregranted through a special permit that addresses additional testing, ID requirements, and certain management conditions.
