CDA Emergency Rule effective April 30, 2024
Lactating dairy cattle imported into Colorado must have a negative test for Influenza A within 7 days prior to movement. The lactation status and negative test results must by recorded on the CVI.

TB Free Zone
- Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued by an accredited veterinarian within 30 days prior to entry into Colorado.
- UNLESS shipping directly from the ranch of origin to an approved livestock market or shipping directly to a federally inspected slaughter facility.
- Official Identification must be individually listed on the CVI.
- A statement written on the CVI stating: “These cattle do not originate from the MAZ.”
- Permit is required prior to entry by calling (303) 869-9130 or by using the Online Permitting System (OPS).
- USDA Official Identification required (840 RFID tags, Silver “brite” tags, or orange Brucellosis (OCV) ear tags).
- A Negative Tuberculosis Test required for dairy cattle 6 months of age or older within 60 days prior to entry into Colorado.
- TB test exemptions:
- Consigned to an approved livestock market:
- Must be tested prior to release;
- Sold directly to slaughter; or
- Sold to an Approved feedlot
- Consigned directly to slaughter; or
- Consigned to an Approved Feedlot.

- TB test exemptions:
- Negative Official Trichomonas foetus PCR Test (individual or pooled) required for bulls 12 months of age or older within 60 days prior to entry into Colorado:
- A negative trichomoniasis test is valid for 60 days after collection if the bull is held separate from females.
- Bulls from a known trich positive herd are not permitted to enter Colorado regardless of test status.
- Bulls consigned to a livestock auction market must be tested within 60 days prior to the sale if being sold for breeding purposes
- Bulls not tested prior to sale must:
- Be tested prior to release from the market;
- Be sold directly to slaughter; or
- Be sold to an Approved Feedlot.
- Bulls not tested prior to sale must:
- Trichomonas foetus Test exemptions:
- Bulls used for exhibition (without sale) that have no sexual contact with females;
- Bulls consigned directly to slaughter; or
- Bulls consigned to an Approved Feedlot.
TB Modified Accredited Zone (MAZ)
Michigan Counties Affected: Montmorency, Alpena, Alcona, Oscoda.
- Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued by an accredited veterinarian within 30 days prior to entry into Colorado.
- Official Identification must be individually listed on the CVI.
- A statement written on the CVI stating: “These cattle have met the export requirements to move out of the MAZ.”
- Permit required prior to entry by calling (303) 869-9130 or by using the Online Permitting System (OPS).
- USDA Official Identification required (840 RFID tags)
- Negative Tuberculosis Test required for dairy cattle 6 months of age or older within 60 days prior to entry into Colorado and must originate from a TB accredited free herd.
- Accredited herd number and date of the last whole herd test must be indicated on the CVI.
- Exemption - no TB test is required if moving directly to a federally inspected slaughter facility.
- Negative Official Trichomonas foetus PCR Test (individual or pooled) required for bulls 12 months of age or older within 60 days prior to entry into Colorado:
- A negative trichomoniasis test is valid for 60 days after collection if the bull is held separate from females.
