Breeding Cattle Moving Within Colorado
- Negative Official Trichomonas foetus PCR Test (individual or pooled) required for bulls 12 months of age or older under the following conditions:
- Within 60 days prior to lease or change of ownership unless the animal is going direct to slaughter.
- Prior to commingling in grazing associations or on public lands within Colorado.
- Bulls consigned to a livestock auction market must be tested within 60 days prior to the sale if being sold for breeding purposes
- Bulls not tested prior to sale must:
- Be tested prior to release from the market;
- Be sold directly to slaughter; or
- Be sold to an Approved Feedlot.
- Bulls not tested prior to sale must:
- Trichomonas foetus Test exemptions:
- Bulls used for exhibition (without sale) that have no sexual contact with females;
- Bulls consigned directly to slaughter; or
- Bulls consigned to an Approved Feedlot.
- Events, including exhibitions, rodeos, and sales, may have requirements for entry. Contact the event organizer.
