The Colorado Department of Agriculture is pleased to announce the Labor Day weekend headliners for this year’s Colorado State Fair. Loverboy, presented by the Colorado Lottery, will perform live on Sunday, September 5 as the featured entertainment for Colorado Lottery Day at the fair.
The ’80s band, with its trademark red leather pants, is known for such hits as “Working for the Weekend,” “The Kid is Hot Tonight,” and “Lovin’ Every Minute of It.” Loverboy sold more than 10 million albums during its heyday and earned four multi-platinum plaques, including the four-million-selling Get Lucky album. Loverboy will take the stage live on September 5 at 7 p.m. at the Southwest Motors Event Center on the fairgrounds.
The Colorado Lottery reminds fans that it pays to play. Anyone who purchases a $20 or greater Powerball (with or without Power Play), Mega Millions (with or without Megaplier), Lucky for Life or Colorado Lotto+ (with or without Plus) ticket between June 25 and September 5 will receive a voucher to be redeemed at coloradostatefair.com for their fair admission ticket and concert ticket.
September 5 is also Fiesta Day at the Colorado State Fair, which celebrates Colorado’s rich heritage of Hispanic culture. Celebración de los Charros with Luis Ángel “El Flaco” is this year’s highlight performance. “El Flaco” will perform live at the Bud Light Grandstand immediately following the Celebración de los Charros which begins at 7 p.m. For the past 55 years, Fiesta Day has delighted fair guests with mariachi music, charros, folklorico dancers and caballos amaestrados. The Charreada, or Mexican Rodeo, continues to be a Fiesta Day tradition to this day.
Rounding out the headlining entertainment is the NSPA Truck and Tractor Pull on Labor Day. There is nothing quite like the roar of trucks and tractors that range from a few hundred horsepower to thousands of horsepower all compete for the bragging rights of who could pull past 300 feet in their respective class. The Bud Light Grandstand will be filled with revving engines on Monday, September 6 at 3 p.m. The event is general admission.
